LAM Action celebrated 25 years with a really positive virtual meeting on 11th June 2022. The 3 hour event included a history of LAM from Prof Anne Tattersfield OBE, research updates from Prof Simon Johnson and Dr Debbie Clements, a tour of the Nottingham research lab, messages from LAM Groups around the world and the Lucy Falconer Talk was presented by Dr Lisa Henske, Director of the Center for LAM Research and Clinical Care, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston. This year LAM Action celebrates 25 years of supporting people with LAM and raising funds for research. In that time the charity has raised over £1.5 million and funded a full-time researcher along with PhD students and clinical trials. For our 25 Challenge, we ask that you, your families and your friends take part in an activity of your choice based around the number 25 and fundraise or donate to support LAM Action. The 25 Challenge is open to all ages and the ideas and options are endless! Whether you run for 25 miles or just walk 25 times round your garden, juggle for 25 minutes or play the piano for 2.5 hours, bake 25 cupcakes or sit in icy water for 25 seconds – your support for LAM Action will be invaluable. LAM Action’s annual meeting will be held virtually on Saturday, 11 June 2022. We will kick-off with our formal AGM at 10 am, followed by what promises to be an extra special meeting of presentations and celebrations. This year marks LAM Action’s 25th Anniversary, and our meeting will highlight the tremendous progress made in LAM research, understanding and patient-led achievements over the last 25 years. LAM Action still has some charity places for the London Marathon 2022, which is scheduled for Sunday 2nd October. Runners must aim to raise £2000 for the charity and in return they will receive a LAM Action running vest, support with training, fundraising and PR and be cheered on by supporters on the route and at the finish.
