London Marathon, 10ks & Ride London

Every year LAM Action aims to raise £75,000 to support women with LAM and their families and to continue to fund much needed research into the condition. Fund raising through sponsored events is a central part of achieving this goal and we now offer places in more events than ever before, but we need your help to fill them

The 2019 British 10K takes place in London on Sunday, 21 July and is a great way for people who are relatively new to running to take part in a fun, but high profile event.

All we ask is that runners commit to raising £500 for our charity and in return they will receive a LAM Action running vest with their name on it and all the support that we and our PR agency, Empica, can give them with training and fund-raising.

Ride London/Surrey 100 is a 100 mile cycle starting at the Olympic Park and heading through the Surrey Hills area of outstanding natural beauty before finishing on the Mall. Thousands of people enter the ballot to take part, not all will be lucky, but LAM Action has guaranteed places for those who are fit enough to complete the course in under 8 hours.

Our fund raising target is £500 per rider and we will supply them with a LAM Action cycling shirt and all the back-up we can muster. The 2020 Ride London/Surrey 100 takes place on Sunday 16th August.   This year is very special because Prof Simon Johnson, the UK’s leading LAM clinician and the driving force behind the UK LAM Centre and LAM Action’s research team is cycling to raise funds for LAM Action.  We have 20 places up for grabs so let’s put out the largest team ever along side Simon!

The Great North Run – In response to popular demand, LAM Action has previously offered charity places in this half marathon which starts in Newcastle. It is a televised event with a great atmosphere and offers a brilliant way to build up to a full marathon and because it is half the distance we have set a fund-raising target of £1000.  Please contact David Mercer to enquire about a charity place.

The London Marathon – is the pinnacle of LAM Action’s fund raising events. Taking place every April it follows an iconic route passed London’s landmarks and for many runners can be a life-changing experience. We ask our runners to raise £2000 for LAM Action and normally have supporters out on the streets and at the finish to say “Thank you” to all our participants.

Remember it is only through fund raising like this that LAM Action is able to continue its work – so have a think about relatives or friends who might want to take part, or approach your local running or cycling club to ask if they would hold a ballot to win a charity place.
